Carnival just announced their newest ship the Carnival Mardi Gras will feature a roller coaster at sea when it launches in 2020.  The roller coaster will be located on the top deck as you can see in the picture above.  Carnival has announced it will be 800 feet long with speeds reaching nearly 40 miles per hour.  This new coaster will be named Bolt which appears to pays tribute to the fact it will rely on electric motors instead of the traditional lift and gravity mechanics.

According to Carnival the Bolt will begin with a launch where Carnival says you will achieve race car like levels of acceleration.  They have figured out how to put a photo op on the ride so you will have your picture taken just like you would on a ride a Disney World.  I would assume these pictures would be included in any picture package you may decide to purchase.

There has been no time like the present to be a cruise nerd as each new ship pushes the envelope forward and breaks the mold on whats possible.  I can’t wait to give it a try.
